What we learned the hard way.
22 May 2025
On the night of 22 May 2025 an electrical fault started a fire in the building we leased in Cromwell. Nobody was hurt. The building was extensively damaged, and our workshop with it.
What it did not cost us was a client. Every job we had committed to was finished.
It also taught us what being properly covered actually means, and we have been fully insured ever since. That is the part we would rather be judged on: when it went wrong for us, the people who had trusted us did not feel it.
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
We charge more so that we are never in a hurry.
A price that is too low puts a tiler under pressure to work fast, and speed is where tiling goes wrong. We price the time the work actually takes, so nobody on your job is being paid to rush.
This is not the right business for everyone
If the goal is to spend as little as possible, we are the wrong call. On that job every detail becomes an extra, and you end up arguing about money instead of talking about the work.
It is the right one if you want it done properly
The right products, the right advice, and a room you are still happy with in ten years. Price is not what you live with — the work is.
We take pride in every job we hand over.
When the tools are packed and we are ready to leave, we stop and look back at what we made. A few minutes, every time. Those minutes are why we do this work.
Most people have been imagining this room for a long time before we arrive. When it is finished, those minutes should be yours too — standing in the doorway, looking at something you waited years for, and being proud of it.
The first time you walk in, and every morning after.
