Kitchen splashbacks
A splashback is a small area where every single cut is at eye level.
What is included
Set-out taken from the cabinetry and the window, so the grid lines up with what your eye already reads as level.
Outlets and switches cut so the plate covers the cut — not the other way round.
Mitred returns at external corners where you want them instead of a metal trim. We cut them on the wet saw or by hand, and we quote them as an extra — a mitre is hours where a trim is minutes.
The run under the rangehood treated as its own centred field.
Shadow-line junction to the benchtop, siliconed rather than grouted, so bench movement does not crack the joint.
Why this costs what it costs
Everything is at eye level
A floor is seen from two metres. A splashback is seen from forty centimetres, every morning. The tolerance is not the same and neither is the time.
A mitre is an hour; a trim is ten minutes
A plastic or aluminium trim on a corner takes ten minutes. A mitre takes an hour and looks like the tile simply folded. On a high-end kitchen it is the detail that tells you which one you bought — and because it is an hour, it is priced as an extra and never assumed into a quote you did not ask for.

- Yes, and it is the usual case. It needs more care at the junction and a clean silicone line, but it avoids pulling a kitchen apart.
